Pangolin rescued to natural habitat in Makawanpur

Bagmati Province, Thaha Municipality, 28th June 2020

Local youths were curious when they first saw the animal crossing the road and started making noise since most of them had not seen the species before and were unaware that it’s a pangolin. On June 28, 2020, 8:15 P.M. Dipak Raj Basnet, Wildlife Biologist of Nature Conservation Initiative Nepal (NCI-Nepal) also a local resident of Thaha Municipality-2 received a call from his local friend to observe an unknown species that has been accidentally trapped in local drainage. Pangolin Knowledge Quest

Pangolin Knowledge Quest (सालक ज्ञान प्रतियोगिता ) was organized to mark the World Pangolin Day on 15th February. Over a hundred participants responded to the quest showing their level of knowledge about Pangolin. World Pangolin Day is an opportunity for pangolin enthusiasts to join together in raising awareness about these unique mammals — and their plight. Pangolin numbers are rapidly declining in Asia and Africa.

World Wetland Day 2020 Celebrated

NCI-Nepal celebrated World Wetland Day 2020 with the theme ‘WETLAND AND BIODIVERSITY’. An excursion tour to  Nag Daha, Ankhi Daha and Karmanasa River was made. Students from the School of Environmental Science and  Management (SchEMS) and volunteers of NCI-Nepal were present at the event. 

International Red Panda Day Celebrated

NCI-Nepal Celebrated 10th International Red Panda Day (IRPD) with graduate students on the 3rd week of September. Five different sessions were organized at Trichandra Multiple Campus Patan Multiple Campus, Amrit Science College (ASCOL), Xavier International College, and NAMI College. Issues on Red Panda Conservation, research progress, research gaps, and ongoing conservation efforts were discussed. altogether 200 students and lecturers were present on different sessions.
